September 1, 2019 (San Diego) - Aztecs women’s soccer struggled throughout the month of August in preseason. It’s now September and they’re looking to have a better go of it, starting with today’s matinee against Cal.
After a scoreless first half, the Golden Bears broke the deadlock with a right-through-the-keeper shot by sophomore Paige Metayer in the 55th minute. Redshirt sophomore Kailee Gifford scored the nail in the coffin—a dribbler past the keeper—to give the Golden Bears the 2-0 win and hand SDSU their third loss in a row, holding the Aztecs to just three shots on goal.
